Each summer Redwood Electric members have an opportunity to see where and how our electricity is generated. Members travel by bus to Bismarck, ND from there they will travel to various points of interest in the Bismarck area. They will have the opportunity to visit one of many coal generation plants and a working coal mine. The trip may also include a visit to area historical sites, a coal gasification plant, Garrison Dam and a River Boat cruise on the Missouri River.
Members will travel by bus to the Bismark, North Dakota area to visit:
Coteau Mine-You will see the gigantic equipment used to mine lignite coal.
Antelope Station-A Basin Electric Power Cooperative power plant.
Dakota Gasification Plant-Where coal is converted to gas and other useful products.
Riverboat Cruise-Take a relaxing cruise on the Missouri River and enjoy pizza dinner.
The cost of the trip is $100 per person. The $100 includes the bus, two nights hotel, six meals and the riverboat cruise. A $100 per person deposit must accompany your reservation. We have 25 seats available, as we share a bus with South Central Electric. The final tour schedule will not be available until early July.
